Process to measure the consumption of client for Alta Call

Open a terminal and follow the instructions below:

  1. log into the database production server (WARNING: This holds the true and only one database. Careful!)

$ ssh ubuntu@db.prod.alta-voce.tech

  1. Edit the dates in compute_monthly_usage.py or any other options in the OPTIONS section at the head of the file.

$ vi /home/ubuntu/compute_monthly_usage.py

  1. Run the script

$ python3 /home/ubuntu/compute_monthly_usage.py

The results will then appear in the terminal.

In its current state, this script does not modify the content of the database. It is thus safe to run it as a test or multiple times if an option has to be corrected. However, it does increase the CPU usage of the server substentially during its execution. Running it too much might thus impair the proper performances of the database and thus all the connected services.
